ON THE THRESHOLD OF A NEW ERA
The festival will kick off with this year resident Vít Beneš’s new band Endemit – an introverted dance in another galaxy. The same evening will then see Tryptych, a popular Prague band with original and dynamic energy.
BEAUTIFUL MEMORIES – THE IMPORTANCE OF TRADITION
Wednesday marks New York day. Two New Yorkers, Brian Charette and George Cremaschi, will present different approaches to the American music tradition with their ensembles. First we will hear the work of a legendary bass player and composer, followed by a trio composed of Czech-Slovak jazz stars led by one of the world's most renowned organists.

BIG GOALS – THE MANY OPTIONS WE HAVE
On Thursday, we will show how wide our range is. We will start and end the day with a reminder of the time when jazz was popular music. We will also present intense electric sound sculptures in rock guise. The evening will culminate in playful experimental music with a deviant touch performed by a stellar Berlin ensemble.

NEW RESOURCES - WHAT IS BEING PLAYED TODAY
On Friday, we will start with an intimate examination of the sound in the interior of a Hussite church. Another point is the continuation of last year's successful project, in which talented young musicians working together create a program tailored to the festival. The highlight of the evening will be a Polish-Scandinavian band delivering music full of emotion and experiences.

SHINING FUTURE – WHERE MUSIC IS HEADING
A large orchestra, two premieres written specifically for the festival, three world-famous improvisers, one of the most famous European composers of contemporary music. A spectacular finale as part of a unique concert, where we will present current trends in jazz, connecting composed classical music and unrestrained improvisation.
Program:
Performers:
Sofia Jernberg, a Swedish experimental singer, improviser and composer, is known for pushing the limits of the human voice in a completely unique way. A similar thing can be said about the saxophone and clarinet virtuoso, Frank Gratkowski. Frank is an exceptional musician with a range from experimental music to jazz and rock. The trio of soloists is complemented by Susana Santos Silva, a distinctive musician with an unmistakable sound. Susana is one of the biggest stars of the contemporary European jazz and improvisational music scene. Peter Graham and Michal Nejtek are renowned Czech composers and musicians (both pianists) whose work has been performed in the Czech Republic and abroad by distinguished ensembles and performers. Both have a wide scope beyond the genre of contemporary classical music. Composer and director Heiner Goebbels is one of the most important representatives of contemporary music and musical theater. His compositions for ensembles and large orchestras are currently performed around the world, as are several of his musical plays and staged concerts.
The connection of the work of Heiner Goebbels, the three soloists mentioned and the Hradec Králové Philharmonic is an extraordinary and exclusive act, probably never to be repeated in its form.
GREAT, NEW, BRIGHT, BEAUTIFUL
We are living in revolutionary times, both socially and artistically, and art, from time immemorial, has always reflected social changes. Some people perceive these changes as a social, artistic, musical crisis. Our view is more optimistic and we believe we are standing on the threshold of something new and beautiful. As a jazz festival, we have a duty to guide through the tradition of jazz music, which has been evolving for over a hundred years and is present to this day. It remains a lasting value, finding ever newer and newer generations of performers and listeners. At the same time, we would like to be a festival that is conscious and reflects on where the music is at present We are also on the threshold of an era where, first and foremost, it is becoming increasingly difficult to determine what is and what is not acceptable within a particular genre, and secondly, at what point this ceases to be relevant. There are no longer any barriers between higher and lower art, all possible influences, genres and forms can coexist, create new combinations and move music forward. Our slogans this year are a reflection of how positively we perceive this new era, where music is accessible to everyone in any form.
